FRIDAY BLEND PRESENTS: COPY CATURDAY
Copy Caturday
Every creative starts by studying other creatives.
DESCRIPTION: In this collaborative workshop, we'll break down a piece of media to understand how it was made and why the creator made specific choices. As a group, we'll identify the individual components that contribute to the final result, such as composition, typography, color, editing, pacing, storytelling, sound, lighting, and other creative decisions. By looking closely at each element, you'll develop a deeper understanding of what goes into creating professional work.
Next, you'll recreate the style of the original piece using your own skills, tools, and available resources. The focus is on observation, experimentation, and learning through replication.
Once you've recreated the style, you'll apply what you've learned by creating an original piece inspired by the techniques, decisions, and creative approach you analyzed.
The process follows three simple steps:
Analyze
Copy
Create
By the end of the activity, you'll have practiced critical observation, strengthened your technical skills, and experienced how studying great work can become a springboard for developing your own creative voice.
